Valuable research work has been and continues to be produced in the Sudan. Some of this is published in international journals nevertheless there (is) felt to be a need for a local journal reflecting scientific research in the Sudan and surrounding areas.

Sudan Journal of Science, SJS, publishes original work in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics. This journal provides an opportunity for the publication of results obtained through research projects, theses, dissertations, etc on material of local and international interest.

The journal also publishes topically selected special issues in research fields of particular scientific interest. These consist of both invited reviews and original research papers.
